Try to figure out what I'd smoked 'cause I know there's no way to know you've got 48 hours left.

Do you have a demon, and can others have any in them?
by JH in.
many thousand years ago, jesus expelled demons in people.
do you think it's possible today that people, maybe you or i, may have one or more demons in us, controling us to a certain extent?

Ignorant, religious people can see a demon in the bottom of their coffe cup, or in someone they dislikes, face.
While I don't believe in the supernatural, I think we should note that it's not merely ignorant people who believe in such things. If we look throughout human history, and even common cultures today, nearly everyone has believed in some form of witchcraft or the demonic. Beliefs are an interesting phenomenon. Lest we get arrogant and think we don't have such silly beliefs today, we are still a product of our society and belief things just as unreasonable as witchcraft. We just can't see it from the inside, or at least most of us can't.

I suggest you watch the movie "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller. Based on the Salem Village witchcraft tirals, it does a good job of showing how "evidence" is gained for supernatural phenomenon. It's quite interesting.

FREE HEALTH CARE
by Dansk inlittlerockguy's recent post about paying for his medical care in the usa got me thinking about something i've pondered over for a while before realising you lot here probably have the answer.
because of all the treatments i've been having it has made me mightily glad i live in the uk and the bill is paid for by the national health service.
therefore, any medical treatment i receive is free.

No one has "free" health care. What you speak of is called socialized health care.

The ones who left Jehovah's Witnesses in my area almost invariably grew beards. I don't know what their reasons were, but it did seem to be a visible act of defiance for many.
I grew a beard, but not for defiance. I've always hated shaving. I hate the rough, itchy feel of shaven skin, the slimy, cold steel blade slathered across my face every morning, nipping and ripping and slicing anthing in the way. I mean really folks, will a true servant of god put his life and holy relationship with the sovreign of the universe needlessly in danger every day by wielding such sharp, death-dealing, disease purveying instruments of satan across his visible members every day? And this is only the beginning for folks who use such ungodly instruments on their face. It invariably leads to shaving unmentionable parts, and god forbid homosexuality and chess-playing!!
Back to reality now, I have no qualms about trimming my beard, and I do every other day--I just hate cold steel on my face. And don't even get me started on those over priced vibrator-wannabe-hair-jerking Nordics. groans in disgust

Why are "straight women" fascinated by other women' breast?
by booker-t inthis is a non-religious question but i have always wondered why "so called" straight hetero women are always looking at or talking about another women' breast or breastsize.
you would never hear me or see me looking at or talking about another man's privates so i am curious ladies what gives.
i work with several married straight women and this is all i hear from them.

You're unlike the vast majority of men, then. Haven't you ever heard men joke about penis size? How does it go? "Suck my,,, what is it?" "I'm the only man around here familiar with 12 inches"--a comment I heard from a specialty salesman at work just the other day when discussing the measurement of an appliance. Just my random and sundry thoughts. . .

Do stupid people have more children? What are the implications?
by AlmostAtheist inno offense to those with large families (and no compliment to those with small ones), this is a thread speaking of averages and groups, not specific people and families.
your mileage may vary.
dealer participation will affect consumer cost.

"Just because someone Has a high IQ doesn’t mean they have “Common Sense”."
Ah, a myth perpetuated by average folks so they can feel better about being around people who are smarter than themselves--or at least that's my experience. I've never met a person with a high iq that didn't have common sense. Had you said "there are different kinds of intelligence," I would agree. But, the definition given thus far is explicitly contradictory.
